In furtherance of its objective to expand sales of sustainably produced sugars, the Mauritius Sugar Syndicate facilitated the setting-up of a co-operative with the priority aim of grouping the island’s free planters and preparing them for Fairtrade certification. The MSS Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Ltd was consequently registered in January 2021 and is currently enlisting planters into its membership.
